Build depth and breadth.
I develop T-shaped teams: people with depth in a specialism and enough breadth to work across disciplines. Practice heads and project leads own technical quality and their people’s development.

I lead technology at Section, building the teams and platforms that turn new business opportunities into work we can deliver.
I’m Nicholas, Tech Partner and Chief Technology Officer at Section in Singapore. I lead a technical organisation of more than 60 people, alongside my business partners Ryan, who leads business direction, and Eugene, who leads design and solutioning.
Since 2025, I’ve led our expansion from website and small scale technical delivery into systems integration across digital experience, customer data, engagement and CRM. That shift meant reshaping teams, building specialist practices and giving technical leaders ownership of delivery.
I look for the next useful step beyond a website: connecting experience platforms such as Sitecore with customer data, engagement and CRM. The opportunity needs to fit client demand, our business strategy and what the team can realistically take on.
I invest in professional certification and practical delivery experience together. Building that expertise in-house has helped us take on new work and rely less on external specialists.
Architecture choices need to account for reliability, scaling, cost and the people who will run the system. Those considerations matter as much as getting the first release out.
I’m currently exploring enterprise AI use cases across business workflows, assessing where the technology fits and what dependable delivery would require.
Prove the capability.
Build the team.
Give them ownership.
I work alongside the team on the first engagement, then hand ownership to the people appointed to lead the practice.
I develop T-shaped teams: people with depth in a specialism and enough breadth to work across disciplines. Practice heads and project leads own technical quality and their people’s development.
I go through the platform’s professional certification process myself, help win the first engagement, appoint the next lead and work with the team through delivery and stabilisation.
Routine technical decisions stay with specialists and project leads. Escalations go through our Technical Delivery Director. We review the most complex architecture decisions together, including high availability and on-premises scaling.
Three examples of this approach in practice.
SENTOSA DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION · LOYALTY · 2023
As Technical Lead, I led delivery of the website and mobile app using our agency-developed loyalty platform. We prioritised integration with Sentosa’s wider ecosystem and a low total cost of ownership.
Technical Lead · Peak technical team: 20
YUANTA · SECURITIES · LAUNCHED 2026
I led the technical team delivering client apps for iOS and Android, and relationship-manager apps for iOS, Android and Windows, alongside the backend-for-frontend (BFF) and full on-premises architecture. The design supported multiple locales and isolated core banking environments, with high availability, scaling, business continuity and disaster recovery considerations.
Technical Lead · Peak technical team: 12
SECTION · APPLICATION MAINTENANCE · LAUNCHED 2026
As CTO, I led the creation of SectionSecure with a team of five. We brought together open-source tools for security testing, code quality, performance, service levels, logs and AI observability to strengthen our maintenance offering.
